The Classic and Magical Sound Packs Duo is designed to cover essential card game mechanics, focusing primarily on card movement sounds. We intentionally avoided combat and defense effects, as well as GUI sounds, since we already offer a variety of specialized packs that cater to these aspects of card games.
Creating the Classic Sound Pack
Different types of materials were experimented with to achieve authentic and distinct card sounds. Dense wood was used for a neutral surface, providing a solid and versatile base, while a thin cutting board delivered that classic wooden resonance often associated with traditional card games.
For coin flip sounds, I utilized some of my favorite coins: a silver half-dollar Kennedy from 1964, a Jamaican coin from 1962, and a Yugoslavian coin from the 1970s. Though this detail may be irrelevant, I can't help but brag a little—I love how these coins sound!
The cube sounds were crafted using light wooden cubes from a children’s playset.
Shuffle sequences were created in two ways: some were recorded directly on the spot, capturing natural variations, while others were designed in post-production by combining individual shuffle elements to achieve a polished result.
Creating the Magical Sound Pack
The process for the Magical Sound Pack was similar but incorporated enchanting elements to give it a distinct, magical flair. Chimes were a key addition, representing that quintessential magical touch. Fire effects were also included to add warmth and mystique to certain actions.
This pack also features unique sounds for gameplay moments like changing turns and passing turns. While these could fall into the GUI category, I felt they fit well within the theme of this pack and would be a valuable addition for developers looking to enhance their magical card game experience.
